about laurel & Co.
Hi, I’m Allie Rodriguez, the creator and maker behind Laurel & Co. With a long history of working with mixed metals and precious stones, I founded Laurel & Co. in 2019 to bring my love of accessories and everyday, wearable art to life.
I first began studying the art of metalsmithing in 2009 and later earned a degree in Jazz Performance as a vocalist, though I never stopped pursuing my passion for working with metal. After college, I stepped away from the arts and took the opportunity to travel throughout Central America, eventually teaching English in Nicaragua. I later took on a role supporting and encouraging others in their quest to travel internationally.
After my time abroad, I returned to Denver to pursue a career in the nonprofit world. However, I soon realized that it was not where my heart lay. I missed my creative outlet—working with my hands every day and transforming something flat and lifeless into an intriguing, wearable piece of art. So, in March 2019, I took the plunge and started making jewelry again—at the time, not fully understanding that this new “side hustle” would grow into the full-time business I’m now so proud to have built.
From 2019 into 2020, I focused on honing my craft and diving deep into the process of selling my work. I had wonderful opportunities to collaborate with other small businesses throughout Colorado and connected with fellow makers through markets and pop-ups. However, as I continued to sell and showcase my work, I noticed a gap between consumers and makers—a disconnect in understanding the work that goes into handmade pieces, and, by extension, the cost associated with them. Rather than letting this discourage me, it motivated me to create Fleur, a space I’m incredibly proud of.
In September 2022, Fleur opened its doors in Denver’s Baker neighborhood. Fleur is more than just a jewelry studio or a shop for handmade work—it’s a space where local teaching artists and makers, including myself, can invite others into the process through workshops and classes. In just two years, Fleur has grown beyond my wildest dreams, and I feel privileged to witness the creativity and connection fostered here. As of May 2024, Fleur is home to 11 teaching artists, all of whom are women, small business owners, and work in a variety of mediums.
As I reflect on this journey, I’m grateful for the challenges, the growth, and the incredible community that has formed around Fleur. It’s a joy to share the art of making with others and to create a space where creativity, craftsmanship, and connection thrive. I look forward to continuing this journey and seeing where it leads next!

Artist statement:
Laurel & Co. was inspired by Laurel - an always fashionable, well accessorized lady, whom I am fortunate enough to call “mom”. The pieces I’ve created for this shop are for fellow accessory lovers - those of you that want a pop of color to contrast your hair or black dress, or a unique statement ring to draw attention to your hands and newly manicured nails.
Contrast is key at Laurel & Co., as well as the importance of well-made, comfortable jewelry. The way a green patina contrasts brass and copper, as well as the contrast of silver and gold, are some of my favorite styles when designing jewelry.
While I am inspired by Laurel, I hope you are inspired by Laurel & Co. - mix and match colors, wear bold jewelry, and feel confident and comfortable while doing so!
